The President of Gabon, Ali Bongo, has made his first public appearance 10 months after he suffered a stroke.

He stepped out yesterday with the aid of a walking stick as he is not completely healed of the stroke which happened in Saudi Arabia in October 2018.

Gabon's anniversary of independence from France in 1960 was celebrated yesterday and President Bongo exchanged a few words with security officers before laying a wreath at the tomb of Gabon's first president, Leon Mba.

Bango came into power in October 2009, and almost 10 months ago who was caught up with stroke.
The ceremony lasted half an hour, which was reportedly shorter than in previous years.
