A foremost Socio-cultural organizations in Annang Nation, Akwa Ibom State, Ati Annang, is set to celebrate her 25th year of existence.
The organization, which was initially formed as Annang Youth Movement on 23rd February 1994 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was later renamed Ati Annang, with the collective aim of defining, articulating and implementing the goals and ideals of Annang ethnic destiny within the context of the Nigerian ethno-centered nation state.
Ati Annang seeks to promote love, justice and progress of its members and community, while preserving the Annang history, language and culture, as well as empowering its youth for greater advancement of their goals and aspirations.
The formation of Ati Annang heralded another phase in the continuation of the journey of a people in search of self-actualization and consciousness.
Parts of activities lined up for the Silver Jubilee celebration of the organization which commences from Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th August, 2019, include Presentation of Annang Language Development Project; Anniversary Lecture; Exhibition of the Annang Arts, as well as Exhibition and Presentation of Annang Cultural Heritage.
The grand finale of the week-long event shall witness Annang Awards presentation to deserving citizens, Inauguration and Induction of Associate members into the Annang Hall of Fame, Scholarships award to tertiary institutions students, and Distribution of back packs to primary school children, on Saturday 17th August 2019 at the Ati Annang International Secretariat, Ikot Ekpene.
Wellness programme will also be offered at the event where people would be screened for diabetes and high blood pressure.
