The Chairman of Abak Local Government in Akwa Ibom State was today suspended by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly over an alleged assault on an Artisan which he reportedly owed the sum of 75,000.
We reported here earlier that the State Governor, Udom Emmanuel condemned the Act and described it as being unacceptable in a civilised society and not representing our core values and further demanded for investigation by the State House of Assembly.
However, the Assembly, in a plenary session earlier today directed Williams to proceed on indefinite suspension and mandated it's committee on Local Government to investigate the incident and report back to the house within a month.
Subsequent update coming up.
